Applications have become much more demanding of greater wireless bandwidth for such tasks as accessing MPEG 2 HDTV, video gaming, VoIP calls, and digital photography. The IEEE 802.11n standard (with its higher throughput and longer range) addresses the bandwidth issue. The Atheros XSPAN technology provides greater throughput (up to 300 Mbps), the signal remains consistent, drop-outs are minimized, and more concurrent devices can be reached across a greater area.
Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205
The Intel® Centrino Advanced-N 6205 is a new IEEE 802.11abgn wireless adapter that operates in the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz bands. The typical user will enjoy faster connectivity and HD streaming at greater distances. This wireless adapter transfers at up to 300 mbps, which is five times faster than the older IEEE 802.11abg technology. It also connects at a range up to twice that of the older technology.
